It started in 1994 when Mark Messier hit Trevor Linden while he was down in game six. That led to the famous 'He will play' call by Jim Robson.
Messier and the Rangers won the Stanley Cup in game seven.
Inexplicably the Vancouver Canucks signed the douchebag to a five year contract at 6 million per. WTF.
Messier wore the #11 that belonged to Wayne Maki who years ago passed away from brain cancer.
Trevor Linden gave up the C to 'the greatest leader in sports history' lol.
Messier floated.
The late great Pat Quinn was fired.
Linden was traded. Kirk McLean was traded. Gino Odjick was traded.
More floating from the perimeter player who didn't even try. Fans booed. And Messier collected more money when the value of the team went up during his time with the Canucks.
Now in 2024 Messier is a commentator on TV and he's frickin' awful at it. He's so cringeworthy - we love seeing him fail.
Fuck Messier.
The most hated player in Vancouver Canucks history.
